About us

This project is dedicated to my late aunt Mmandu. She died of breast cancer at the age of 38. Ironically Mmandu means if I should survive in Ibibio language. Up until her death, her illness was blamed on witchcraft, due to deeply rooted superstitions and lack of understanding of the nature of the disease.
Our organization, Ette Ibibio vzw, is registered in Belgium as a non-profit organization and in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission.
Since 1998, with emphasis on women and children, we have been raising resources to improve the socio-economic position of the deprived and/or underprivileged in Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.
